Rebecca was born in Dalarna, Sweden. She studied TV-Production in Santa Barbara and later started her career within Film and Television back home in Sweden where she was working with several productions companies on TV-commercials, feature and short films. Following her interest in international film and TV production she moved to New York and completed the Producing Program at the New York Film Academy. Since graduation, Rebecca has produced several short films, music videos and commercials in New York but started to move more towards events the last few years and is currently the Head of Events at The Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations in New York.
Rebecca joined SWEA New York in 2013 where after one year she became a board member and chairperson for the Programme Committee. In January 2018, Rebecca took over the Presidency and would like to continue as the President for the term January 1 – December 31, 2019.
Cinna Vesterberg is from Uddevalla and came to New York 22 years ago to study acting. While still in school, she started working part time as a puppeteer at the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater in Central Park. Part time ended up as full time and she is now a Civil Servant puppeteer working for NYC Parks and Recreation. 2018 Cinna, together with NYC Park department and the Swedish Consulate, showed three of Ingmar Bergmans movies in New York City public parks under the program Arts, culture and fun. She also directed Beppo the Clown, six sold out shows at the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater as part of the Ingmar Bergman 100th celebration. Cinna is a shop steward in her union and also served on the board as the activity coordinator at the Swedish School in Hudson Valley. Her household is tri- lingual. Her husband is Puerto Rican, learning Swedish. Tilda, almost 7, is learning Spanish in school and Swedish at home. Cinna joined the board 2018 as the Treasurer and is now looking forward to serve on the Board in the capacity as Vice President for the term January 1 – December 31, 2019.
Ewa was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. She has a degree in Social Studies from Södra Latin, Stockholm. Ewa began her carrier in the hotel industry, she has worked both in Stockholm, London and eventually moved to California on a work visa. After 12 years in the hotel industry she changed her career to retail and started working for Macys in 1994 which lead her to New York in 2012 after receiving a job offer at the world famous Macy’s Herald Square. Ewa lives in Queens with her life partner Steve and their cat Lucy. They love trying new adventures, like driving across the US or planning a upcoming trip to Tokyo. Other interests are interior designs, visiting museums, going to the theater or visit as many different restaurants as humanly possible. She holds a dual citizenship after she became a US citizens in 2011.
Ewa has been a member of SWEA New York since August 2012, a member in the program committee since September 2013 and valberedningen since January 2016. Ewa is looking forward to serve on the Board in the capacity as Secretary for the term January 1 – December 31, 2019.
Maria Sander was born and raised in Malmö, Sweden. She has a degree in Corporate Financial Management from Lunds University. Since graduation Maria has been working for Handelsbanken in several positions, manly with large corporates and Transaction Banking. At Handelsbanken Maria met her husband Johan and they have been living in Stockholm since 2010 where their first daughter Ilse was born.
Last year Johan got a new position at Handelsbanken New York and the the whole family moved to Upper West Side in November 2017. In January 2018 their second daughter Iris was born. Maria is currently off duty and home with Iris. She loves spending time with her family and friends and has a great passion for traveling, good food, exercise and staying healthy.
Maria joined SWEA in March this year and is looking forward to serve on the board as Treasurer, for the term January 1- December 31, 2019.
Christina Xenos is from Gothenburg, where she both worked and got her education in political science. Christina moved to NYC the summer of 2017 to live with her husband Jebreh who is a native New Yorker.
Christina is working for Seedco, a national American non profit with a mission to advance economic opportunity for people, businesses and communities. Seedco designs and innovates programs for economic development through workforce programs, work and family supports and employer and small business services.
Christina is a member in SWEA New York since August 2017. Christina has experience serving as a board member in a couple of Swedish companies and organizations. Christina is looking forward to being part of SWEA New York as a board member during the term January 1 – December 31, 2019.
Malin Dessner was born and raised in Falköping, Sweden. She has studied in both Australia and Spain and has an MS. Pharmacy degree from Uppsala University. After traveling extensively in the world, she moved to NYC in March 2011 to live with her American husband whom she met in Beijing. Malin is working at Pfizer coordinating registration of new drugs in the Latin American region, and when not at work she enjoys drinking wine, spending time with friends and family, and trying new playgrounds with daughter Ebba.
Malin has been a member of SWEA New York since May 2011 and became a member of the Board on January 1, 2013. She was appointed Vice President & Secretary by the Board of Directors on October 1, 2013. Malin is looking forward to continuing to serve on the Board, in the capacity as an alternate for the term January 1 – December 31, 2019.
Lisa Hammarstrand is from Gothenburg and after finishing Arts and Drama school she then moved to Cork, Ireland before returning home with the taste for living abroad. One rainy summer day back in Gothenburg a couple of years later she decided to move to Uppsala to study Leadership and Project Management. Her experience stretches between hotel management, tourism, and retailing. She later joined a Design Agency in Stockholm as an Office Manager, Executive Assistant to CEO and finally as an HR Manager before she started her own consulting business. Lisa moved to New York City in 2015 and shortly met her Australian husband and they decided to live in NYC together. Lisa enjoys walking in Central Park, listening to documentaries, watching tv-seriers and movies. Lisa is looking forward to serve on the Board in the capacity as Program committee representative, for the term January 1 – December 31, 2019.
YOUN HEE PERNLING FRÖDIN
Youn Hee Pernling Frödin was born in Seoul, South Korea and was adopted to Stockholm, Sweden where she was raised. She has later been back to Seoul to study and experience everyday life. Youn Hee holds a BSc. in Political Science and Economics from Linköping University, with a major in Macro Economics and Finance. In addition to her bachelor’s degree, Youn Hee also has a diploma from the Data Science Immersive program at General Assembly in New York. After working as an Analyst for both the private and the governmental sector she moved to NYC in January 2018 together with her husband. Youn Hee is currently on maternity leave with her daughter Tove, but is looking forward to start working as a Data Analyst during 2019. Youn Hee loves food and eating out, but is not a big fan of cooking. She also enjoy running, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Youn Hee has been a member of SWEA New York since September 2018 and is looking forward to serve on the Board in her capacity as Vice Secretary for the term January 1 – December 31, 2019.
Sandra Lindhe was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. She met her husband Marcus when she was traveling through Australia in 2008.
Sandra worked in Human Resources at one of Sweden’s largest banks before she decided to become a teacher. She now holds a Teaching degree from Stockholm University. Sandra worked as a primary school teacher in Sweden before she moved to New York City in June 2018, because of her husband’s job. Right now she has taken the opportunity to study again and learn more about her work as a teacher. Sandra loves spending time with friends and family, practicing yoga and taking long walks in Central Park or by the Hudson River. She also likes to travel, trying new restaurants and watching tv-series.
Sandra joined SWEA New York this fall and is looking forward to serve as an alternate during the term January 1 – December 31, 2019.
Caroline Mogard comes from Avesta in Dalarna, Sweden. She holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, and she has after her graduation been working as a Management & Technology Consultant within IT, in Sweden as well as in France.
During her studies, Caroline spent one year in Lyon, France, as an exchange student, and during that year she met her current husband Charles. In April 2018, Caroline moved to New York to join her husband who had been offered a new position, and in October, Caroline herself found a job as a consultant for a British software company.
Caroline joined SWEA very shortly after her arrival to NYC. When not participating in SWEA events, she likes to do and watch sports, as well as enjoying good food. Caroline is looking forward to serve on the Board as the Membership responsible during the term January 1 – December 31, 2019.
