PIA BILTING BEARFIELD
Pia was born in Örebro but moved with her parents at an early age to Mölndal, near Gothenburg. She studied “Kulturvetarprogrammet” at Gothenburg University, and later took her Copywriter degree at IHM Business School, in Gothenburg. She worked in Advertising for 10 years, as Copywriter and Project Manager, both in Gothenburg and Stockholm, before moving to Brussels with her family 1996, when her then husband got a job with the European Commission. In Brussels Pia initially worked as a consultant for her former employer in Stockholm. 1998 she was appointed Head of the Baltic 7 Islands Regional Office in Brussels, representing its seven Islands, from 5 EU-countries, towards the EU-institutions. When Sweden held its first EU-Presidency, 2001, she got a job as Public Relations Officer, responsible for the Permanent Representation of Sweden’s visitor service, and editor for the EU-representation’s part of the Swedish Government’s Intranet. During Sweden’s second Presidency 2009 she replaced the Press Counselor in the negotiations in the “Working Group of Information”, in the Council of Ministers. After becoming a certified ICF Life Coach, Pia started to work with HR at the EU-representation, responsible for recruitment of Swedes to the EU-institutions. She is currently on special leave from her job, due to her husband’s job with the United Nations in New York, since summer 2018.
Pia has been very active in Friskis & Svettis since 1988, both in Gothenburg and Brussels. She was a board member in FS Brussels for 7 years (including Vice President) and has been engaged in various tasks: as host, instructor (since 1998), as responsible for marketing, training, education and licensing. Pia initiated many joint events between the Swedish Government, the EU-institutions and Friskis&Svettis in Brussels, with the aim to showcase how Sweden works with inclusion, learning and public health.
Pia joined SWEA New York in 2018 (she joins the “Walk in the park” every Monday and is a member of one of SWEA’s book clubs. She was also a member of SWEA Japan, when she lived in Tsukuba 1993-1994. Pia was a board member in the Swedish “Liberal Group” in Brussels for one year, and in the “Swedish network in Brussels”, which included different Swedish actors in Brussels, for one year.
On her free time Pia loves exercising, reading and listen to music. She was singing in the Swedish Choir in Brussels for many years and joined the choir in the Swedish Church in NY last year. She is working voluntary in the church cafe every Tuesday pm! Pia has 5 “kids” between 15 and 30. And, she loves high heels and champagne!
Pia is looking forward to serving on the Board as the President for the term January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2021
Christina Xenos is from Gothenburg, where she both worked and got her education in political and social science. Christina moved to NYC the summer of 2017 to live with her American husband that is from Brooklyn.
Christina works at Seedco, a national workforce organization that is dedicated to advance business, communities and people in need. The mission is achieved through twos core portfolios: workforce programs and work and family support.
Christina joined SWEA NY in 2017 and has been on the board since 2018. She has been the editor of SWEA-Nytt since 2018 and Christina also started SWEAs ‘job club’.
Christina is looking forward to continuing serving the Board during 2020, this time as the Vice President for the term January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2020.
Eva Iveroth was born in Jönköping, Sweden but grew up in Tanzania, Africa. She moved to New York in May 2018 to pursue a master’s degree in public administration at Columbia University. Before moving to the U.S. she lived in the Middle East for several years working for the UNHCR. Eva is passionate about sustainable development and is currently working as a researcher for the organization “Climate Refugees”. In her spare time Eva enjoys playing and listening to music as well as dancing and teaching Latin dance.
Eva has been a member of SWEA New York since October 2019 and she is looking forward to serving on the Board as Secretary for the term January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2021.
Maria Sander was born and raised in Malmö, Sweden. She has a degree in Corporate Financial Management from Lund University. Since graduation Maria has been working for Handelsbanken in several positions manly with large corporations. At Handelsbanken Maria met her husband Johan and they have been living in Stockholm since 2010 where their first daughter Ilse was born.
Two years ago, Johan got a new position at Handelsbanken New York and the family moved to Upper West Side. In January 2018 their second daughter Iris was born. Maria is involved in her oldest daughter’s school and different charity work. She also loves spending time with her family and friends and has a great passion for traveling, good food, exercise and staying healthy.
Maria joined SWEA New York in March 2018 and became a board member as a Treasurer in January 2019. She has experience serving as a board member and Treasurer in organizations in Sweden and has run her own business in Malmö. Maria is looking forward to continuing to serve on the board as Treasurer, for the term January 1- December 31, 2020
Louise was born and raised in Vellinge, a small village outside of Malmö, Sweden. After many years in the restaurant industry; as waitress, chef and sommelier she’s now responsible for accounting and administration for a wine bar and a restaurant in Copenhagen. Luckily, she was able to bring her work with her to NYC so she could work from here. She also studies finance from Sweden, to get some knowledge on paper 😊
She moved to NYC in December 2018 with her husband who has an expat employment here. Her biggest interests are food and wine, she loves testing all great restaurants in the city. She also enjoys running, spending time with friends & family or just relax with a good series.
Louise has been a member of SWEA New York since January 2019 and she is looking forward to serving on the Board as a new alternate for the term January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2021. Louise will take on the role as supporting Treasurer.
Johanna Arnberg grew up in Uppsala. She has a degree in Business and Economics from Uppsala University. During her studies she lived in both San Diego and Valencia, Spain. After graduation, Johanna started working for Abercrombie & Fitch where she was the District Manager for the Swedish market. During her time in Spain, she met her American husband and after 8 years of a long-distance relationship she was finally able to get her Green Card and move to the Upper East Side in the beginning of 2019. Johanna loves exploring new areas of the city to find amazing coffee shops and bakeries, especially since her NYC kitchen is too small to bake cinnamon buns in. She also loves practicing Pilates Reformer, Calligraphy and spending time with friends and family.
Johanna became a member of SWEA New York right after she moved here in January 2019 and she is looking forward to serving on the Board as a new alternate for the term January 1, 2020– December 31, 2021. Johanna will take on the role as the point of contact for SWEA NY’s membership.
YOUN HEE PERNLING FRÖDIN
Youn Hee holds a BSc. in Political Science and Economics from Linköping University, with a major in Macro Economics and Finance. In addition to her bachelor’s degree, Youn Hee also has a diploma from the Data Science Immersive program at General Assembly in New York. After working as an Analyst for both the private and the government sector she moved to NYC in January 2018 together with her husband.
Youn Hee has recently finished her parental leave and is currently looking for a job as a Data Analyst. Youn Hee loves food and eating out, but is not a big fan of cooking. She also enjoy running, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Youn Hee has been a member of SWEA New York since September 2018 and became a board member in January 2019 (and from June 2019 also SWEA New Yorks Webmaster). Youn Hee is looking forward to continuing to serve on the board as Webmaster, for the term January 1- December 31, 2020.
Sandra worked in Human Resources at one of Sweden’s largest banks before she decided to become a teacher. She now holds a Teaching degree from Stockholm University. Sandra worked as a primary school teacher in Sweden before she moved to New York City in June 2018, because of her husband’s job.
Sandra loves spending time with friends and family, practicing yoga and taking long walks in Central Park or by the Hudson River. She also likes to travel, trying new restaurants and watching tv-series.
Sandra joined SWEA New York in 2018 and is looking forward to continuing serving on the Board as an alternate during the term January 1 – December 31, 2020. She is currently managing the Event Committee and all of SWEA NY’s events!
Maria Bergenhem was born and partly raised in Linköping, Sweden. She moved to the US for high school in 2004 and has lived on the east coast basically since then (except for a return to Sweden in 2011 to 2013). She has a BA in Environmental Studies from NYU and a JD from Cornell Law School. She works at a law firm here in NYC called Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP where she counsels technology companies at various stages of development. Maria is very involved in the Swedish community in New York–she has sung in the Swedish church choir since 2007, sits on the Swedish Church of NY’s Board and is also a member of the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce since 2017. She spends her free time with family and friends, enjoying NYC culture and food, and singing in the Swedish church choir.
Maria has been a member of SWEA New York since 2017 and recently got involved in leading SWEAs “job group” and she is looking forward to serving on the Board as a new alternate for the term January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2021.
Born in Dalsland, Maria was a reporter and photographer for Väster Norrlands Allehanda and Aftonbladet before moving to New York. Here, she worked in the PR/Publicity Dept of ABC TV for over 14 years, on assignment with the News and Programming divisions, photographing six different US presidents, numerous actors, politicians, celebrities and news anchors. She then started her own business, shooting weddings, portraits, features and various corporate assignments. She continued to pursue this while living in Mallorca with her family for four years. Since returning to Manhattan, she has also become a qualified personal trainer, and although she enjoys helping her clients feel good, her first love is still the camera.
Maria is looking forward to serving on the Board as a new alternate for the term January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2021
Jenny grew up in Malmö, Sweden. She began her professional career in Textiles and studied Fashion Buying & Merchandising in Borås, Sweden. After graduation she moved to New York City to work as a Technical Designer at the heart of NYC’s Fashion District. In 2000 she moved to Dublin to join Brown Thomas Department Store group as an assistant buyer. She joined SWEA Dublin and SWEA New York in 2002 and has been a member since.
In New York City she switched careers and now work as a Director of Real Estate Credit at Natixis. She is also a board member of the Swedish Church of New York.
Jenny is passionate about education and enjoys lecturing and sharing knowledge with graduate students who’s about to enter their work life. She is a proud Mom of Vincent, her 14-year old bilingual son, who’s in High School studying film.
She is immensely grateful for the personal growth and friendships SWEA NY has provided over the years.
