Here are the Bios in English, of the people suggested for the SWEA New York Board 2024.
BIOGRAFIER
JENNY GREISSLE
Jenny grew up in Malmö and has lived in New York permanently since 2002.
Fashion was her first passion, and she has a Bachelor of Science of Business Administration from University in Borås, Sweden.
Life changed and her career did too. For the last 15+years she’s dedicated her life to real estate valuation. She currently works at Citi as Senior Vice President within the Institutional Clients Group and previous positions include Natixis, Santander Bank and Metropolitan Valuation Services.
Jenny spent 2 years in Dublin and joined SWEA then and re-joined upon her move to the U.S in 2002. She previously served on the SWEA board and was responsible for the Scholarship Committee. Her hobbies include dancing, running, nature and spending time with family and friends.
Jenny’s goal with serving on the Board is to work together with the Board to carry out programs and other initiatives that will benefit new and existing members.
MATILDA IVARSSON

Matilda Ivarsson lives in New York and is a native Swede from Stockholm, Sweden. In New York, she founded a communications and PR agency, STHLM-NYC Agency, that specializes in helping Scandinavian companies expand to the United States. Matilda’s mother has been a long time member in SWEA while they lived in Paris, France and Boston, MA so Matilda is quite familiar with the exciting work done by the organization. Matilda is looking forward to continue serving on the Board for SWEA NY.
CARMEN KAPKO
Carmen was born in Gothenburg and came to New York in 2000 to study finance and accounting and ended up staying when she finished school. After school she worked at the Financial Accounting Standards Board and then went to KPMG. She has also worked at Fortress, Jefferies, Synchrony, RBC and currently works as a Director of Accounting Policy at Assured Guaranty.
Carmen joined SWEA in 2022 and on her free time she enjoys traveling, walking, biking and spending time with her friends and family.
HELEN LUNDSTRÖM
Helen Lundström Erwin was born in Helsingborg where she studied Early Childhood Education and worked as a Pre-School Teacher’s Assistant before she moved to New York.
In New York she continued working as a Preschool Teacher and Nanny, something that blended perfectly with her creative work as a writer and illustrator.
She is the published author of two historical fiction novels and the author and illustrator of a children’s picture book. She is currently working on her third historical novel.
Helen is the host and owner of The Foremothers Café, a virtual world in AltspaceVR which is a community meeting place for women, set in Lund in the year 1918. Helen is also the co-owner and partner of Powersimple LLC where she is the Event Coordinator and Video Editor. Helen joined the board in the fall of 2022 and serves as Secretary.
MALIN LILJERT
Malin grew up in Kil, Värmland and is an Economist by profession. In 2001, Malin arrived in Pretoria, South Africa for a posting at the Swedish Embassy. This was the start of an international career that has taken Malin and her family to seven different cities and countries across five continents. Malin, her husband and two teenage boys arrived in New York in July 2022.
Malin is the Director of Consultancy Services at The Centre for Child Rights and Business, a social enterprise owned by Save the Children and is currently busy traveling in the US investigating child labor in American supply chains.
Malin has been a member of SWEA Geneve, Beijing and Canberra and the organisation has always played an important role in her expat life, not only when it comes to celebrating Swedish traditions such as Midsummer and Lucia, but also as a great place to find new friends and to get advise on all sorts of things including schools, housing and where to where to buy Swedish candy!
Malin has served on the Board of the Swedish School Associations in Dar es Salaam and Beijing and is looking forward joining the Board of SWEA in New York.
MIA CROONA
Mia was born in Gothenburg 1995 and raised in Kullavik/Halland. Before moving to New York Mia had just graduated High School. Mia moved to New York at the age of 19 years old to study Business Administration. She moved to New York because it had been a dream since she first visited New York at the age of 15 years old. Mia Currently works in the crypto currency industry.
Mia loves dogs and are dreaming of being able to help all the homeless and neglected dogs in the future.
Mia joined SWEA New York in September, 2022 as the social media representative. Mia is looking forward to serving on the Board.
ANNA SVENSSON
Anna is from Djursholm, just a couple of miles north of Stockholm. She is a certified elementary/middle school teacher in all Social study subjects, Swedish, English, Math, Art and Music. Anna lived in Portland, OR, for three years before moving to NYC 2015. She has been working as a Swedish teacher in Manhattan. Anna sings in the Cecilia chorus of New York and in the choir in Church of Sweden NewYork.
Anna first heard about Swea in 1996 when she lived with her family in Atlanta,GA. She didn’t join Swea at that time because she was just about to move back to Sweden. The same thing happened again when SWEA Portland started in 2015, she was just about to move to NYC. Finally Anna joined SWEA NY in 2016. Anna is happy to serving on the Board.
YASMINE MÅNSSON

Yasmine grew up in Stockholm in a home that was welcoming and open to everyone and was always filled with a diversity of characters at our dinner table. Her mother is a TV hostess and her father a film director, so from a very young age she has been surrounded by great creators, storytellers and entrepreneurs. This is how she learned the importance of building and fostering a strong personal network. Yasmine also learned how to put it to use by the best – her mother. Through the years, she watched her connect people together, merging both people and industries. Yasmine’s home wasn’t just a place of laughter and incredible home-cooked food, but also where she developed skills that have proven invaluable in her professional life so far. Now, as an adult, nothing excites her more than fostering connections between people. It is not simply about the joy of seeing others grow, it’s also the fact that by creating those connections, your own circle grows bigger and more solid. This has always been reflected in Yasmine’s personal career. Working with PR within the fashion industry as well as a marketing strategist consult at an interior design bureau – her penchant for relationship building was and still is a significant asset. She started her career within recruitment. Yasmine ans her sister founded a recruitment business where she managed the events. Yasmine is a true people person and she has the innate ability to see people as they are and also help them unlock their full potential. With pure curiosity and respect she often end up winning peoples trust and uncover their goals and aspirations. – This is usually where my work begins, she says, with the dreams. Yasmine is convinced that the power of people coming together, creating and supporting each other towards common goals is a key ingredient to success.She is looking forward to serving on the Board for SWEA NY.
MARIA MELIN
Born in Dalsland, Maria was a reporter and photographer for Väster Norrlands Allehanda and Aftonbladet before moving to New York. Here, she worked in the PR/Publicity Dept of ABC TV for over 14 years, on assignment with the News and Programming divisions, photographing six different US presidents, numerous actors, politicians, celebrities and news anchors. She then started her own business, shooting weddings, portraits, features and various corporate assignments. She continued to pursue this while living in Mallorca with her family for four years.
Since returning to Manhattan, she has also become a qualified personal trainer, and although she enjoys helping her clients feel good, her first love is still the camera.
Maria joined the board 2020 as an Alternate and is now looking forward to continue serving on the Board.
PIA BILTING BEARFIELD
Pia was born in Örebro 1962, and raised in Mölndal, near Gothenburg. She studied “Kulturvetarprogrammet” at Gothenburg University, and later took her Copywriting Certificate at the IHM Business School, in Gothenburg. She worked as Project Manager and Copywriter in Advertising for 10 years in Sweden, before moving to Belgium 1996. In Brussels Pia hold the post as Head of the Baltic 7 Islands Regional Office, worked as Public Relations Officer, acting Press Counselor at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU for 11 years. After becoming a certified ICF Life Coach 2008, she begin a new job as Desk Officer at the Swedish EU-representation, responsible for recruitment of Swedes to the EU-institutions. She is currently working at the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the UN.
Pia has been active in Friskis & Svettis for more than 20 years, including board member and Vice President for 7 years, and has been engaged in various tasks within the FS-global organisation. During her years in Brussels, Pia was also a board member in the Swedish “Liberal Group” and the “Swedish network in Brussels”.
Pia joined SWEA New York in 2018. She has also been a member of SWEA Japan 1993-1994. On her free time in New York Pia loves walking and biking around Manhattan, and bring a book to read while trying out the different coffee shops! She loves good coffee and all kind of “bubbles”, which she enjoys drinking in the company of her newfound friends, many of which she met via SWEA!
