SWEA New York SCHOLARSHIP – Previous Grant Recipients

Alexandra Olsson Andersen – 2025


Alexandra Olsson Andersen is a Swedish mezzo-soprano and actress based in New York. She was awarded the 2025 SWEA NY Scholarship in support of her development of the Swedish children opera Pelle
Svanslös by Erland von Koch. The project seeks to to introduce Swedish storytelling traditions and values to a New York audience while fostering artistic collaboration between Swedish and American musicians.

 

Chi Westfelt – 2023

The 2023 SWEA NY SCHOLARSHIP, of $3,000, was awarded to Chi Westfelt, a Swedish Vietnamese jazz singer to pursue her Master’s studies at The New School, College of Performing Arts in New York. Inspired by blues and soul traditions, her music combines rich harmonic language with a strong focus on melody, form, and vocal expression.

 

Amanda Erixon – 2022 (1)

Amanda Erixon received the first 2022 SWEA NY Scholarship of $3,000 in support of her upcoming Astrid Lindgren Off-Off Broadway production, Ronja Rövardotter. She both directed and starred in the title role of Ronja. Amanda was born and raised in Stockholm but has been living in New York for the past 6 years. She studied acting at Stella Adler Studio and has since worked with several creative projects within theater productions, musicals, short films, and commercials.

The second SWEA NY SCHOLARSHIP awarded in 2022, of $3,000, was awarded to Evelina Nolin, a Swedish visual artist and sculptor who is studying for her Master of Fine Arts at Parsons School of Design. In May 2023, she presented an exhibition at the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Gallery.

 

Oskar Stenmark – 2020

 

 

 

 

 

Oskar Stenmark is a Swedish trumpet and flugelhorn player from Gothenburg with roots in Rättvik, Dalarna. His family has a long musical heritage dating back to 1762. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Improvisation at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg Oskar moved to New York to pursue his musical dreams. The 2020 SWEA NY Scholarship was awarded to support Oskar’s Master’s degree studies at the Manhattan School of Music
